Safety shoes play a crucial role in protecting feet in various working environments. There is a wide variety of safety shoes available, each with its own unique functions.
One common type is the anti – impact safety shoes. The main function of these shoes is to prevent falling objects from injuring the feet. Their toe caps are made of impact – resistant materials, providing a strong shield for the toes.
Another important type is the puncture – resistant safety shoes. The soles of these shoes have strong oil resistance, and the uppers are made of materials like leather, fabric, and sponge to facilitate users’ work. According to the national standard GB21148 – 2007 “Industrial safety shoes”, they should be able to withstand a puncture force of 1100N, meaning they can protect the feet from being stabbed by sharp objects such as a steel needle with a diameter of 4mm.
When it comes to the selection of safety shoes, it should be based on the nature and degree of hazards in the working environment. For example, if there are many falling objects in the workplace, anti – impact safety shoes are a must. And in an environment with sharp objects on the ground, puncture – resistant shoes are essential. Safety shoes should also come with a product certificate and an instruction manual. Before use, workers should read the manual according to the usage conditions and use them correctly.
Maintenance of safety shoes is also vital. For special protective safety shoes, after use, they need to be checked and kept clean. They should be stored in a pollution – free and dry place. Moreover, protection shoes should have anti – slip design. This not only protects people’s feet from injury but also prevents accidents caused by operators slipping.
In conclusion, understanding the varieties, functions, proper selection, and maintenance of safety shoes is essential for ensuring foot safety in the workplace.
